Default Fan Clutch Removal for Water Pump Replacement

Does anyone know what size fan clutch wrenches to get to remove the fan clutch on the '92 4.9L motor? I've been looking around and have found varying answers.

Thanks!

The one I bought is 40mm & around $25, but it states 93 and up, so your 92 could go either way depending on when it came down the line. I've had some luck with things like that, just catching the edge of a flat with a big screwdriver or a chisel and smacking it counterclockwise a time or 2. assuming it is a right hand thread, which I believe they are. There is supposed to be a sticker under the hood alerting you if it is left hand thread.
anyhow here is the 93 up wrench.

When I changed mine in my 1991, I rented the 'tool' from my local parts store. You pay a deposit but you get every penny back when you return it

This a different problem, but the same technique should work. I've hear ford dealer mechanics regularly use air chisels for this task. Quick and easy.

I used a big crescent wrench. wedged the pump with a long screwdriver.. tap the wrench with a hammer.. reverse threads

Just sign out a spanner wrench from your auto parts store to hold in place while you loosen the fan clutch with an open end or large cresent wrench. Very easy and you don't have to go pounding on it to remove. It does have "left" hand threads. Some advice, replace the fan clutch and water pump together.

Just finished swapping out my fan clutch. Is there any specific theory on why to change the water pump with the clutch? Just curious...

Just that by the time one wears out, you may as well, since it is apart anyhow, replace the other.

The fan clutch, when worn can ruin your water pump. I always change them together.
