Exhaust manifold

Exhaust manifold
I've had my 1990 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat 4x4 for about a month now. Since I've had it has been having some trouble when idling. I cleaned the IAC valve, bought a new air filter ( it was soaked in oil ), bought new battery terminals, I ran some seafoam through the gas tank, and I've checked and made sure all fluids are in good shape. I am currently working on changing the manifold gasket ( which was in really bad shape) and now I'm wondering what is supposed to go in the hole in the picture. Is it some kind of sensor or should I just plug it ? I would really appreciate if someone could help me figure it out so that I can get the manifold back on soon. Thanks.
What goes in the hole on the right ?

It may be nothing. I'm not too familiar with your gen truck but they started using the mod motors I think so that manafold might work with different motors, which may or may not use that bung depending on application. You might have better luck posting this on the correct forum.

Thanks for your replies. I'm pretty sure it's not the o2 sensor though, especially because it's too close to the engine. I thought I was in the right place. Is there any way you could point me in the right direction ?

O2 sensor for sure. There will be one in each manifold and one right after each of the secondary catalytic converters. So 4 total.

Is it OK if I plug it or should I find another sensor and connect it ? The thing is that I just started working on the truck and there is a lot of unconnected stuff that's probably not working right now. So I really don't know where the sensor runs to from there. If you could help that would be awesome. Thanks

^^^Probably get better luck in the correct forum - this is the 87-96 forum you will want to ask in the 97-03
I know for certain you will get a check engine light if it isn't hooked up and it most likely will cause running problems, so don't just plug it.

Ohh wow I didn't notice that I wrote 1999 on my post. I actually have a 1990. My bad. But OK I guess I will try and find the sensor for it. Once I take a look at the other sensors might help.

Well that changes everything LOL
If it is a 90, then you only need the one O2 sensor that should be located right at the y pipe where the two tubes from the exhaust manifolds join together.
You can plug that hole in the manifold.
