Default C6 transmission "tune up"

I have read here on the world wide web, that i can tighten up the bands on my c6. I read that i could take off the trans pan and just under the filter would be a bolt or nut to turn. Is this true?! and if so please tell me more.
My transmission has one problem When i put in D and its cold i have to rev it up to kick in. After that smooth sailing. What do you guys think and will tighting up these bands help?

Mine's been parked for some time and I haven't gotten around to doing the adjustment just yet. However, I'm pretty sure the adjustment is done from outside the transmission without dropping the pan. There should be a bolt and locknut threaded in from the drivers side of the case. Basically, you'd loosen the locknut and torque the bolt to the correct spec (I don't know it off the top of my head), then hold it in place as you tighten the locknut down to secure the adjustment.
