Default Exhaust for 5.0

OK i want louder exhaust. I dont have headers, thats down the road a ways. I think i have a simple flowmaster. Sounds ok but i want a deeper roar. But i dont want the backfiring bark of a straight pipe. I welcome any ideas any brands. any information will help alot thanks.

Have you tried a glass pack? You could also try a cat-back system with two pipes running out back. Shorty headers that bolt right in place of the factory manifolds run about $100 if you don't go with the name brands.

Get a pair of Flowmaster mufflers. They will rumble without being too loud. Around my house,Mustangs Unlimited carries them, and they will work fine on the truck. Some of the site sponsors might carry them also, so check with them.

If you go with the flowmasters get the 50 series muffler and not the 40 series from what I have been told and have heard the 50 series has a deeper bass like roar over the 40 if there is any flowmaster guru's please correct me if I am wrong

no, it will forever be a mystery.

and if your planning on running headers eventually, you might as well just hold off if your trying to save any kind of money. just pick a plan and stick to it because when you start trying to change aftermarket stuff it gets expensive.

edit: and about the flowmaster comment. i ran a 40 series on my truck and loved it.

Well the reason Im saying a 50 over the 40 series is because you want a nice deep roar without the raspy bark. Ive owned both 40 and 50 series full system setups before and the 40 series I had had more of that raspy bark than the 50 I had. The 50 I think is more mellowed out with still the roaring grunt you want I believe the 50 is a bit more but I think its worth it. I know a guy who even deals flowmaster and he usually recommends the 50 over the 40 if you dont want that raspy type sound but its just my opinion just something for you to think about personally right now my favorite other than the 50 series is Magnaflow I think Magnaflow has a good clean crisp bite! Good luck on finding one
