Funny and also probably part of the reason it is gonna be up on jack stands for around a month or so. Doesn't help that it has lived all 21 years of its life in the Midwest. Salt sucks but driving an old beater in the snow is waaayyyy fun!

Hey guys, well progress is slow, my son got me sick so I am just now getting around to working again. I figured out a good way to "adjust" the Y-pipe to get it to fit better, hopefully I attached the picture correctly so you can see it. Hope this could help someone with the same issue i was having. I strapped it to my work bench and heated it with a torch while tightening the straps, worked perfectly and now the pipe fits great! One step closer to seeing what this thing is gonna sound like with a flowmaster 40 series on it!

Excuse my ignorance but hopefully somebody will answer this. I'm putting everything together, what is the purpose of the air tube for the catalytic converter? It was disconnected in the past by somebody, the new cat air tube is caped. Do I need to connect it? I don't really care about pollution control, my state doesn't check pre 96 vehicles. Thanks

It's to put air in to the cat so it burns hotter at cold starts. If your not worried about pollution control just delete the cats and run a nice muffler.

Ok, so do I need to cap off the tube coming from the engine?

If you are keeping the cats Its a good idea to hook up the air tube. It helps keep the cats clean and extends their life as well as reducing emissions.
