yes, its basically an almost useless junk filler that nets you less mileage, cant find gas w/o it in this city

we have 10% and E85.....

Unlike the other two posters above me if I had access and time to change the fuel system to Alcohol Pumps, Lines and Injectors I;d run E85....

the cost of running it works out to about the same... YES you consume MORE fuel per mile because Alcohol is Oxygenated..... but the lower cost more than offsets that.

the power you gain more than makes up for the difference.

DO NOT run more than 10% in these year trucks... the Fuel Pumps, Fuel Lines and Fuel Injectors are NOT Alcohol friendly.....

we have had to replace the valve train in motors here because the ethanol makes a nice gunk on the valves and it bends then and the pushrods also had to clean out tanks in motor homes because it made a film about 1/2 thick on the bottom of the tanks

Ethanol also allows for greater compression without detonation. Many drag cars run it. It does not store well however Stabil and some other brands of treatments for E85 and 10% take care of that issue. It also burns cleaner and when used quickly leaves less deposits in the entire system. Finally if we went using it fuel prices would go up. Expect to see it more in the future and prep you system for it. New cars are made for it.

It doesn't save money if you have to buy additives for it. Yes some of my vehicles sit long enough for the gas to turn.

We don`t have it up here any more. I know it raises havok in any thing it runs in or shortens the life span. Hows your outdoor small engines doing? You know you can take it out of the gas on a smaller scale, Or larger depending how hard u want to work at.

yep 10% everywhere other then the Airport but i can't run that in my truck
Ethonal is not good in older vehicles. e85 is good but even then your still burning more which creates more pollution so in reality ethanol is pollution more and therefore has failed at its original mission
If it was up to me I would do the same as Dr bowtie but not sure i should due to there is no place that sells e85 around

Do not run it, methanol is a corrosive and after time it will destroy all rubber and some plastic parts in the fuel system, our vehicles are not made to run it, besides you will see less mileage by about 15-20%, and yes we run it in our race cars but the fuel systems and carburetors are made and calibrated for methanol. Methanol is used in gas only because the enviro socialist liberals want people to think it will help the environment, clean the air, but in reality you use more fuel and the emissions are not much cleaner than straight gas. Yes methanol will make more power, run cleaner on its own, but specialized fuel systems and you will need burn twice the amount to get the btu rating of gas.
