Default engine nerds only

Alright, reading another thread about 351's and what not i started thinking. Before we start, i have the resources and people to do almost anything i need. Now. Besides exhaust and intakes and all that, what happens if i want to boost my numbers a little, okay, alot more than stock. Stock for my engine is 220 i believe, lets say i want to shoot for at least 300 naturally asperated?? Do they make cams that will help? Different heads? I saw a complete edelbrock intake manifold for $850. Stuff that can be done in a good days work. I dont really want to tear my engine down, or pull it completely out if i have to. I know my tranny will need rebuilt soon, its getting kinda shifty(nice pun eh?). Right now i have straight pipes cat back. Soon to be long tubes straight, no cat. And a little modification to the air box soon, maybe electric fans. Ive also read somewhere about changing the valve ratio or something, but it seemed like a lot of work for little gain. Isnt gauranteed anything is going to happen right away, but i never read about building up 351's much and thought id get some good engine builders to chime in.

Efi. I want to get as much power without going through a tranny every 6 months and without computer problems or really dealing with much electrical. Im OBD1 by the way.

Its all about how much money you want to spend.

Cylinder heads will be the largest gain, and most expensive modification.

Go to Edlebrocks website and look for top end kits. They will include heads, intake manifolds and cams. Basically everything you need to build to top end of the engine, throw on a set of headers and you will probably be closer to 350.

If you wanna go crazy get a set of 215 AFR heads.

cam, long headers, custom exhaust, better heads, better ignition, thats about it for a non mass air engine.

300 seems like a decent number for me. One thing i NEED is low end torque. 33's and 3.73 made my acceleration take a huge dump. So ill stick with cam, my neighbor's friend works in an exhaust shop so ill be getting hooked up there.

What trans do you have? A C4 will hold up to the added power, an AOD can barely handle from the stock engine.

Thats Im not sure. Ive never messed with an E40d, with a C4 youll loose your overdrive, I wouldnt recommend it.
