Default EGR tube removal 1996 F150 straight six

I'm removing my upper air intake manifold so I can get to the rocker cover to change the gasket. Can anyone tell me how to get the bottom flange nut off the EGR valve tube (the end down at the exhaust pipe). I can't see how to get on it. Is there something I need to remove to gain more room? As far as I can see, that tube has to come off to get the manifold off. If there's another way I'd sure like to know it. Or maybe I need a special tool?
Thanks

Should be able to remove it at the manifold end behind the motor. the exhaust end just ahead of the convertor tends to get a little rusty and is very likely to break rather than come apart nicely

Be. Careful that tube breaks easily.

Spray it down with penetrating oil and let it soak for a few hours prior to removal. It will make your life A LOT easier if you do this.

Hey, I removed the plastic inner fender and I can get on the bottom EGR tube nut, but I can't seem to get enough leverage to break it loose with the tools I've got. What did any of you guys do to actually back that nut off. I did soak it with penetrating oil. Also, if you look at the picture I've posted, apparently that nut is in two parts. I'm assuming you hold one and back off the other. Is that correct? Anyway, if anybody can tell me how you did it, it would be a great help.

Call me crazy but I got it off with regular old hand tools lol. And penetrating oil of course. You just need some *** behind it! Lol

And that one doesn't even look as rusty as mine.

If the engine is running let it heat up to let the metal expand otherwise try a torch.
