So it's not going to be licensed for street use? Not old enough to be Smog exempt. Or is that not an issue where you are?

I got 4 years to wait until I can yank my EFI! Then I'm doing trip dueces!

Now, on topic:

You'll also have to swap the transmission as those are computer controlled as well. Other than that, you should be free and clear other than plugging up all the sensor/etc. holes....

Good luck!

erm... not exactly. Maryland and Pennsylvania have "California Emissions". New Jersey also has certain emissions regulations. Each State is different and most of mandated by the Federal Government. In Maryland you cant' touch emissions equipment until the vehicle can be classified as "historic". Which is 20 years in MD. I'd suggest the OP find out what the emissions regulations in his/her State before they go ripping into it....

Let's not forget that the ignition system also uses the computer, and EFI is better.

I would rather keep the EFI setup but theres just to many things that can go wrong with it and are gonna have to be replaced like all the sensors. one sensor goes bad and the engine wont run right. its really a pain to have to deal with

Crap will break on carbureted vehicles too. At least with EFI you can "ask" the computer how it's doing. It points you in the direction of problems and it controls the fuel better.

the idle air control valve and egr valve both went out and it didnt even throw a code. the engine just stated to surge and only run half the time. i replaced them and it ran fine. you cant always count on the computer to tell you where to look. thats why i want a carb setup. yes stuff will still break but not everything is controlled by the computer. alot easier to work on

No you can't always count on the computer, so you had to use some of your non-computer controlled skills to fix the truck. We don't need to argue about which is better, you want what you want. You are going to have to downgrade everything on the truck to make it run with a carb.
