E4OD Broke! Help
Trying to give my soon to be Ex some help. She said she went to accelerate from a stop, light acceleration, the transmission popped and now no drive gears or reverse. Linkage had come lose once before. Checked it, all good. Linkage moves on the side of the tranny. No turning of the transmission at the drive shaft. I've been out of town for a week and haven't actually looked at it yet. Getting info from a friend that went and looked at it. Trying to get some ideas as to what I might face on Monday when i get over to look at it. No previous slipping, hard shifts, Etc. Just the one time linkage that came lose in the column.

Dodge+Ford = always ready
the 92 f150 i bought a month ago had a blown transmission, guy i bought it from said the same exact thing happened, heard a pop and then nothing. i ended up throwing a rebuilt trans i had sitting around in it. but we think the pump inside went out.
when we first got it we tried everything to be sure.
fluid
all the electronics/grounds
checked all the sensors and solenoid packs
couple things i have learned is the E4OD dont like heat and old fluid, among being abused.

couldnt have said it better myself. Since I live in Texas mine gives me problems all the time. When she finally dies and I rebuild or replace ill install a transmission cooler on it.

Why not do that now? The transmission cooler I mean. Why wait if you're going to do it anyway and it'll help your transmission? Also, if you service your transmission like you're supposed to Then you don't have to worry about old fluid being an issue. The E4OD has known internal durability issues, hence the 4r100. You can replace the internal parts to correct that issue.
