Default e-fan went in, feeling happy

95 5.0 2wd

Efan went in. So glad I did it with a friend who's very good with electrical work as I don't have much experience in it. He was thorough and tested connections before wiring and after wiring. Learned a lot. I have a switch under the dash and turn it off when I get out of the car so it's not running after I turn off engine and drain my battery. Now that I don't have a big fan in the way, I'm ready to clean the engine area.

Will keep an eye on the MPG's. 16 highway miles home from friends house and needle barely moved. I mostly drive it on on street and my mileage sucks. I get about 10 1/2 to 11MPG. Hopefully after TPS and this efan, I'll get a little better. It's a lot heavier than most F150 since it is a "utility" truck (the kind with tool cabinets on it like the AAA pickup truck.

Thanks but I actually had problems!! About a week later it got to over 103+ degrees here in socal and I started overheating on stoplights. I had to take it off and put back the fan. I think I may have other problems. It's a 2600cfm fan and maybe I need something like a dual 14" fan putting out 5000cfm. Also, my battery died last week and I think it was starting to go during the summer. It's 6 year old battery. Long story short, I think my alternator was working extra hard to keep the battery going and not enough juice to work the fan? I don't know, just a theory. But I'll try it again next year! People have been telling me to grab the $100 dual fan for the Lincolns so I may do that next year.

Yeah I was wondering about the single fan, most guys go with the dual to make it work properly. Have you thought about upgrading to a 130 amp alternator? I'll be upgrading to one here soon because the stock one can barely keep up as it is.

I think that's exactly what I need. 130amp and dual fans. Something to save up for! I was actually thinking of doing a rebuild next year (not me, have a shop do it) and then I'll be able to do cool stuff knowing the engine is running well.

you need something with a shroud, so the efan draws air thru the whole rad..also not really liking how the fan attaches to the rad itself. looks like its inviting a leak.

I did a test with the shroud back on. Parked in a sunny spot that day and it was over 100. Just sitting idling and heater needle started climbing and climbing and climbing. I didn't like those zip ties thing either but my friend who put them on his RV said he had not problems. Next time I do this (probably next year), I'll have a 130amp, shroud, dual fans and attaching it to something more secure.

You need to ditch that aftermarket fan and pick up a set of factory electric fans. Built in shroud, much, much more airflow and almost silent compared to those aftermarket performance fans that obviously don't cut it in the performance area. A set of factory mopar fans from a chrysler 300 are about $100 brand new and offer dual speed and each fan can be operated 100% independent of the other. http://www.1aauto.com/radiator-cooli...xenxoCWBbw_wcB
