when on front truck runs fine ,when selected to rear ,takes fuel from front and tries to put it in rear tank,truck runs fine

Could be your selector valve I be live that's what it is called. Easiest way to make everything work if its your daily is figure out what tank you want to run and basically disconect all hoses off to your other tank. May help I've done it a few times on different older f150s

my 96 does the same thing so I run the back tank empty first then switch to front tank. It takes about a week or so
for the front tank to empty into rear then I just run rear tank again
