Factory is the best size. What exactly is wrong with the current exhaust system?

So the answer to my question is "nothing"?
How little more power do you want? Buy a slightly more-powerful engine. For sound, buy a stereo.
If you want the engine in THIS truck to be reliable & cheap to maintain, maintain it - don't try to re-engineer it, and don't tear up or replace things that are working correctly.

If thats the case i'd remove the cats as well. might want to remove your smog pump if you haven't already, and the air tube leading to the cat, you might get a check engine light doing that but as long as you know the codes are for the emissions you could just drive it like that.

After I finished my 351 swap, I cobbled up and Frankensteined the exhaust using my six cylinder cat behind the Y pipe and used it as a muffler just so I can drive it to a muffler shop. The first shop wanted $700 to do duals with Flowmasters while a second shop was going to charge me $1500 because he was going to put a new cat as well as Flowmasters. I didn’t like either of those prices so I cleaned up my Frankensteined exhaust job, got clamps, hangers, 2.5 inch pipes(two) and 2.5 inch 90 degree elbows(two) and a short Flowmaster knock off with dual outlets and had the 2.5 inch elbows and pipes come out the side in front of the rear wheel. It’s actually not too loud or obnoxious if I short shift it....
