Default DTC Codes

Hey everyone, I just went and had my Check Engine codes read, and needless to say I am not sure what everything means. First off the reader showed, "No DTC definition found. See service manual." I don't have a service manual, but what does this mean? It also showed four numerical codes in correspondence with that phrase, those codes being 31, 44, and 52. Do those mean anything? Thanks in advance for all of your help!

Also, what should the electrical resistance for the EGR Vacuum solenoid as well as the EGR pressure sensor be?

We need more info. What year truck, motor, etc? Did they use a code reader? Have you tried pulling codes yourself?

It's a '93 with a 302. I pulled the codes myself with a code reader, what I pulled for the KOEO was 31 and 52, and for KOER I pulled 31, 44, and 52.

Is the EGR Vacuum Solenoid, when shook around, supposed to sound like there is something rattling inside? Or could that be a bad solenoid?

The factory manual has pinpoint testing for DTCs, and is probably the easiest way to diagnose a check engine light so that you aren't throwing parts at an issue. If you don't have access to that, then a subscription to alldatadiy.com (about $25/year) has very similar diagnostic procedures and would be worth looking into.

A Haynes or Chiltons manual may have basic diagnostic routines that may get you by as well.
