Thanks for the reply. Is there a good way to depress the cylinder? It seems to not be the one that is holding it back. It is the retainer bar under it that keeps it separated. Sorry I am still not able to identify all the part names.

I know this is a stupid-simple suggestion, but anyhow, you referr to a "retainer bar" thing. do you refer to the parking brake "spreader"?? (the one you can just barely see at the bottom of one of your pics?)

Ensure that you haven't attached this to the shoe itself, it of course attaches to the parking brake lever behind the rear shoe (correct guys? It's been a long time since ive done f150 drums) . Doing so would definitly cause the shoes to sit incorrectly.

I know its a simple oversight that can happen untill comfortable with rebuilding drum brakes... ...I've done it once

Yeah, that bar under the wheel cylinder needs to be in the notches or it will keep the shoes from going in all the way.

So is that my problem? I have the "Primary Brake Shoe Parking Brake Lever Link" #17 attached to the shoe and not just the parking brake? It is kinda thick at the end, so I am not sure if it will only touch the parking brake lever...

Attached is a pic of before I removed everything from there. It is hard to tell where the PB lever starts and the shoe ends... So I can't tell if the parking brake lever is soposta be attached to the shoe or not. I can tell you that I did attach it to the shoe. I thought it was weird that something called specifically parking brake lever would attach only to the shoes.... Perhaps that is my problem all along!

Please confirm or deny this. Thanks!

Looking at the pic that where its supposed to be, when you push the parking brake, the lever will push on the link and push out on 1 brake shoe, and the lever will pivot pushing the other one out. If your still having issues with getting the drum on, just back off the adjustment screw till it fits on.

So it should be on the lever behind the shoe, but not actually touching the shoe?

Nope, just has a slot so it can slide in and out.

One side is wider so it can engage the parking brake lever and the shoe. The narrow side just engages the shoe.
