I thought about having my transmission flushed until I asked around. 3 out of 5 mechanics mentioned that they have heard that it causes later transmission slip problems due to cleaning out the old wear shavings of metal that helps as a fill in within the gearing.
I would think if there was any metal shavings they would do one or two things and that would be either collected onto the trans pan magnet or stick to the filter.
Not sure if its true or not?

So I did my own trans flush for the first time. What a breeze! I started out by slowly lowering the pan to drain the fluid. Once I dropped the pan I rotated the crank by hand until the drain plug for the torque converter was accessable through the plug on the bell housing. Removed the plug and then loosened the top trans coolant line running to the radiator. After all was drained I tightened the line back up, reinstalled the convertor plug, changed the filter and replaced the pan with the new gasket.(after installing a drain plug in the pan) I filled the trans with 12 qts. and started her up and went through the gears. Shut down and added 3 more quarts and checked fluid after it warmed up and a couple laps around the block. Perfect right at the top of the cross-checked area. Took just a little over 2hrs. What a difference! No more SLAM shifts, just nice firm shifts. I used Amsoil Super Shift Non-Slip Racing Fluid for High Torque and Racing applications.
