Default Does anyone know how to remove this stereo?

I have a Clarion 5740 I can't seem to figure out how to remove it. I need to replace it and want to see if the original harness is in place...

You can get access to the back side of it if you drop the glove box down. Usually there are metal tabs on either side that need to be depressed to get it to release, but I have always had luck just pushing and wiggling it out from the back.

The slots for the release keys are visible in your 2nd photo at the bottom corners. Go to the Clarion website & try to DL the manual for that model.

I had to push mine out from the back side through the glove box like @BLDTruth is suggesting. I was also in the middle of changing my dash pad at the time and found that it was even easier to access and remove the stereo after I had removed the dash pad. I could manipulate the metal tabs at that point. Sometimes the tabs can have sharp edges.

IDK how you can get to the Left nut for the dash pad while the radio is still in-place.

(phone app link)

But the keys I linked above are only ~$6.

The left nut/stud on the dash pad is missing on about ~75% of the dash pads I have pulled. Just pulled two the other day and neither of them had it

I used a couple of tiny tim hacksaw blades to use as "keys" and got it to come right out. Looks like the original harness has been cut and rewired to
the Clarion harness so I will have to do some wiring as well. Anyone have a link to the FORD stereo harness colors? 1992 F-150. Also, what size speakers
are in the doors and behind the seats? I need to replace those as well.

Thanks!!!!

5x7 or 6x8 in the rear, 5.25 or 6.5 in the front. I had to drill holes for the 6.5 but it is worth it.

There is a special place in hell for people who don't properly install stereos with factory plugs.

I know there are diagrams in one of my previous threads. Search my username for my keyless entry and stereo dampening project threads. Or Steve83 will have them in his signature link.
