The rear is open, turn one wheel, the other goes in an oppisite directions. But I can see that someone has been in the front evidenced by the excess sealant. When I turn the driveshaft, only one wheel turns, but, as soon as I put resistance on the other wheel, it starts turning in the same direction.

I'm trying to avoid pulling the axles, driveshaft and housing just to drain the fluid and look at it if I don't have to. I'm pretty sure that since it locks up very quickly with very little resistance, that it's not a clutch type.
Anyone care to second that motion?

I'm thinking if there could be any problems with putting an additive just to make sure even if it didn't need it, just to be on the safe side.
Thoughts?

This one is a True-Trac, it has no clutches.

I'm totally with you on that one Collector. Firm believer in that. Just thinking about putting new fluid (suck the old out) and trying to decide what the heck to put in there.

Gotcha. Still, it would be impossible to suck all the fluid out, plus, id do the extra work to inspect everything.
