that doesn't mean you'll drive away in the same truck after a crash, it just means you'll live to drive / walk away, period.
Yeah, I'm not sure where the guy you replied to got his info, but not only is a new truck safer in almost every way, but they are also heavier, so from a pure physics standpoint (e=mc^2 doesn't even apply in this scenario) the newer truck will win. I know my dad's 2014 f150 weighs more than my 96. combine that with the fact that I only have 1 airbag, where as he has multiple air bags and crumple zones and its easy to see who will walk away from the crash. It's a dangerous bit of misinformation to spread around that old vehicles are safer than new ones.

I was just kind of joking with that part, but honestly of the 4 or 5 accidents I've seen in the last couple of years involving a newer truck and an old brick bodied truck the newer one was totalled in all but one, the brick was easily fixable.

The new ones do get totaled a lot. The engine breaks away and goes under the truck; crumple zones disintegrate corners of the car or truck as energy from a crash is dissipated.

Just like in a race car wreck at 150 MPH... if the car flips and rolls and bangs for a half-mile, the driver walks away. If it hits a wall head on, worse things happen.

Old cars don't hold a candle to newer ones, regardless of weight.

However, if I'm driving my new truck and you're driving your new car, good luck if you run into me.

finally put the rex on stands and pulled the battery, so that would be a no, lol.

I think that's the part I like the best. Anybody can just go down to the dealership and sign their name... hell I could just go pay cash. But that's not what I want. Having what I want is more important to me than having what the neighbours think I should have. You want to watch how you present that.
Kinda in the same boat. I can get whatever I wanted now, but I like the probe of driving an old clean truck. Especially when I drive north, and my truck has no rust. Then I get asked about it, then they realize I'm 1,000 miles from home and have a trailer. Then they ask when I rebuilt it or how many miles are on it, and I say it's all factory built, still runs great and has now 210,000 miles on it lol. And I like to shine my truck up, I park it at the end of the parking lot and protect it as best I can, but it still has scratches and dings and if I get another one it isn't as big of a deal as it would be if I had a truck with a 700 payment to go along with it.
wanted know
