Default Digital Odometer rolling itself back at specific mileage!?

Hey guys I have a 96 F-150 and the digital odometer rolls back 10 miles every time it hits 178,665, it rolls back to 178,655! I don't understand what could be causing this and it is driving me crazy!!! I want the truck to read the actual mileage. Has this happened to anyone else and if so, what can I do to fix this? Thanks in advance!

Could be the PSOM (programmable speedometer/odometer module). It converts the signal from the speed sensor to the speedometer and odometer on the dash. It can be reprogrammed or replaced, but you may loose you're current mileage, not sure.

You are not alone, mine did this too, but at a different number, it turns out i was driving through a time space fluctuation on the back road from walmart…

Never did figure it out, when it happened to me it would drop by 100, after a few months it stopped happening, or i stopped noticing.

Never heard of it doing it with that low of miles. They will roll back to 300k after 399,999.9 miles.
