Thumbs up Cruise Control Fixed!

Hi all,

I've gotten help from the group before, so I thought I'd offer this one up in case anyone ever has this problem.

1995 F150 300ci manual (M5R2)
The cruise control quit working a while back, I didn't really care too much but it started nagging at me in the back of my mind and I finally got around to solving the puzzle.
All the buttons work, and when pressing "ON" followed by "SET", a click can be heard, but no cruise control kicks in.

Started with checking the brake pressure safety switch, it was fine, so I continued with all the checks in this post: https://www.f150online.com/forums/el...t-working.html

Everything checked out, except pin 4 of the servo connector didn't change state with the brake pedal was pushed. Didn't make sense since the brake switch and wiring was all fine.
The only other thing to check in that part of the circuit was the clutch pedal position (CPP) switch, which I assumed was fine since the truck would crank over with the clutch depressed but not with it up. Popped the switch cover off, and sure enough, the springs were all busted and folded up from age and work hardening, so they were only pushing the shuttle halfway back to the home position. Enough travel to make the ignition function work, but not enough to tell the cruise control that the clutch isn't pressed. A couple hardware store springs and we're back to cruising.

No pics, sorry, but it's super easy to remove that switch and disassemble it. Just remove the wire harness, pop the top cover off, and gently pull the switch off the clutch master rod. Heck, you don't even need to pull it off the rod to see if the springs are shot.

I never thought the switch contacts would open and close at different points in the stroke, so I never suspected that switch was bad. Live and learn!
