Yea then Coyote swap is EXPENSIVE Had a Sportsman block 331 with AFR heads, S-trim, Art Carr AOD, complete fuel system, and allot more. So far I have motor, K-member set-up, pedal bracket, and the control pack and roughly have $8200 invested. Still need transmission, headers, fuel lines, and front accessory bracket/compents.(want AC and stuff) But after selling the 331 combo from vert, fuel system, and rest of windsor related parts I am pretty much even, at moment, with the offset cost. Only thing left from the windsor combo is the Vortech kit, and that should be sold this week, and that cash is going toward a tranny. Told myself this is last build I am doing for myself, and going with everything new, so cost will be bit more than usual.

I can understand the last build frame of mind. I have a 5 liter 94 Mustang Convertible and I'll be installing a 347 in it and perhaps a T-56. Will probably do a Systemax Intake and 205cc TW heads on it. After I do that, I don't see myself building anything else more than likely unless I come across a potential project I lose sleep over, which I don't see happening at the moment.

They Coyote is a nice engine... but IMO its not worth what it would cost to swap in. Its only 360hp 380ft lb in an F150 (stock). You can get that with the old 5.0 relatively easily and still have fuel injection.

Mine SHOULD be 260hp/355tq according to comp cams when i put in the headers and cam I want. Putting in GT40 heads too so maybe a little more?

Im doing coyote swap in 93 mustang with mustang motor, 412hp and 390tq stock. To get a 302 to that power would need to be stroker with good heads, cam, and stuff. Or a 302 with GT40 heads and a supercharger.

I've had everything from NA 302s', NA 408's, to blown stroker combo's. Dont get me wrong they are a blast, but the coyote is totally stock and starting at 400hp. Good exhaust, cold air, and custom tune and had roughly 450, with stock driveablilty.

Bout way I feel also. But let me rephrase mine, I quess. No more personal build ups. Will do one if a paying build, that it.

A build up sounds great. But these are a few things to keep in mind. This isn't something I just cruise around. It's often used as a daily driver and long hauls to the middle of no where to go snowmobiling. So reliabitly is an issue. Stroking and mod internals might not be a very reliable thing. Also fuel economy. I don't see build a hot rod to put in here doing any better on gas. I like the whole idea of the new 5.0, turn the key, have 400hp and some pretty solid gas mileage.

Keep in mind our trucks are heavy and have the aerodynamics of a brick, so gas mileage is going to be a point of concern regardless of the engine type.
