Default Coffee can removal

I want to know if I can get rid of that stupid coffee can on the passenger side inner fender. I thought I had heard it was something for emissions or egr and I believe there is a tube that goes from it to the exhaust, however I have a custom exhaust that I removed it from. Been driving it that way for a while now with no issues with the exception of a wind blowing noise at certain rpm's. Just curious if I can get rid of it and what all does that entail.

Why do you want to remove it? It can be relocated under the washer fluid reservoir in the 9th gen for sure. The holes are predrilled under the bottle in the inner fender. You'll have to get a new length of vacuum hose. Also, I do not know how the engine will react to deleting it. With a functioning emissions system, I can tell you for a fact that the truck will run perfectly to 45mph and throw a CEL and reduce power if the vacuum hoses are hooked up backwards. As far as deleting the emissions systems, the truck was designed to run with these systems in place with the EFI and will reduce MPG when deleted. If you care about MPG. I relocated the Can and built my own smog pump intake muffler to clear the entire passengers side fender. Very clean look with all systems in working order.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I have dual vacuum cans. So what is both cans for. I would like to clean up the passenger fender as well if I could. Not to mention, has anyone ever tried to get rid of the coffee can and go with a newer plastic can? Mine have a bit of rust and I am not sure if I am hearing a leak on the one under my washer reservoir. Just curious.

You should not have dual cans. You have the coffee can vaccuum reservoir and the smog pump muffler. I have write ups on both. You can search the site for my posts on both. I'm on my phone so Iits not easy for me to find those posts at the moment.

At this point mine is not hooked up into the exhaust. It hasn't been for a long time. I've never had any issue with running or cel popping up. I was unaware of what all it did but I figured if it wasn't hooked up anymore and nothing was running wrong could it be removed fully.

It doesn't hook to the exhaust.

Whoops. I unhooked something else then. I guess I'm stuck with that thing until it's motor swap time then.

I had duel coffee cans on my 92'.

One under the washer reservoir and one on the passenger side close to battery.....The one under the washer reservoir goes to the Cruise Control.....I deleted my cruise control and got rid of that coffee can.

That's a good idea...I shoulda removed the passenger side one and just used the other one....Always hate doing things twice...Live and learn.
