Look for worn or shiny metal on the frame, around the radius arm brackets and missing rivets. Any cracking or corrosion is a sure sign of future problems. Also take a look at you're ball joints, front axle shafts and the u-joints.

Easier if you lift up the front end and inspect it. Shake the from tires back and forth, bear hug the tire and lift up and down, grabbing the top and the bottom of the tire rocking it back and forth.
