SPark OUT.

It removes the additional timing advance the ECU adds to your Base timing advance. You must remove it to either adjust base timing...or even check your base timing.

The timing you see w/ SPOUT plug in, is not your base timing.

I think your distributor's base timing is currently set to "WHACKED OUT", rather than 10BTDC.

Oh and is there a differance between base timing and regular timing, or is that the actual term that is suppose to be used?

Do you know for sure the distributor was set in w/ #1 piston at TDC on the "Compression" stroke?

There are two times the #1 cylinder is at TDC. Once on the exhaust stroke/ Once on the compression stroke You know your coming up to the #1 on the "Compression" stroke, if you plug the spark plug hole w/ your thumb & feel pressure build. If there is no pressure build coming up to the #1TDC, your on the exhaust stroke, therefore 180 degrees out.

A shot of starter fluid into through butterflies will cause an "attempt" to start if you have spark, but insufficient fuel pressure.

You didn't alter your firing order from what it was originally did you?
