Question Clueless new guy needs some help

I recently had my truck die on me while i was driving home. It just cut off like someone turned the key off as i was driving down the road. Not being able to get it to restart i had it towed home. I replaced the ingnition coil, the spark plugs/ wires, the distributor/cap and the rotor. The truck ran fine for a few days after that. Just to work and back a couple of times. Then one day i got about two blocks down the road and it died on me again. I let it cool down and was able to drive it back home to park it. When i got home i checked the distributor and it was loose so i figured that i just needed to re set the timing on it and i would be good. Well when i got the timing light hooked up it told me that i was advanced by 65 degrees. I tried to turn the distributor but was unable to because the module was hitting the intake. I pulled the distributor and started over. I lined up the harmonic balancer and dropped the distributor back in with the rotor pointed at the number one spark plug wire (marked with a 1 on the distributor cap). Then i redid the firing order that the hiltons manual has listed for it. Tried to start the truck and all it would do was crank but not actually start (no backfire or anything of that nature). Then thinking i may be on the wrong stroke i pulled the cap off and marked where the rotor was then lifted the distributor up, turned the rotor 180 degrees, dropped the distributor back in and verrified my 180 degrees with all of my markings. Tried to start the truck and all it would do was crank but not actually start (this time there was a very very slight backfire while trying to start). I then checked that the coil was firing which it was. Then i checked that the number one plug wire was firing and it was. I checked the fuel line on the engine and its getting fuel. The truck will still not start!

Any help will be greatly appreciated! Im about ready to push this truck off of a cliff and call it a day! Thankyou in advance for any help that you may be able to give me!

Three things make an engine run. Fuel. Ignition. Air. You've got the first two. I'd check air filter, throttle body, and intake for proper operation....also where did you check that you had fuel? Could be an injector issue.

There is a black cap on the fuel rail. I pulled it off and pressed the button on it an fuel came out. Im going by myself so i cant check it while someone is trying to start it, but i figure if its shoting out while sitting there it sould be good while im trying to start it. If i need to recheck it with a partner please let me know! I do remember when the truck initially broke down my buddy came to help me and when he checked it while i was turning the key and the fuel almost took his eye out! So it was good then.

Gotta check the pressure with a gauge.

That is where you use a gauge to determine fuel pressure at the rail.

Remove your TFI Module (AKA= ICM/ Ignition control Module), take it to a parts store & they will bench check it for you. Report back w/ findings & we'll proceed from there. Obviously if it test's bad, replace it.

On a 91', I believe it's located on the driver side engine compartment fender well.

91' distributor mount TFI? I'll take your word for it, thought that was the year they went remote mount.

Do you know where your SPOUT plug is?

SPOUT Plug! Find it next to the TFI, pull the little plug out of it's connector & try the start your truck w/ the plug removed.
