Default Clicking sound from under truck?

Hey guys, new issue! I have a 1994 f150 4x4 auto with the 302 v8, I've been hearing a strange clicking sound at low to low-middle throttle ranges, around 15-30mph, so mostly 1st and second gear. It sounds like its under the truck, my guess is the transfer case, driveshaft, or rear differential... Somewhere in that region. If I swerve or give it a little more gas, I can't hear it anymore. It doesn't shift rough and the 4x4 still works. Please tell me is a U-joint on the transfer case or something cheap and easy....... I'd love any help that y'all can give me! Thanks!

Clicking sounds more like a U-joint. Look for red rust dust around the u-joints, that's a indication they are worn out.

I'll have to check that out tomorrow when I get back from work, thanks! Would the whole driveshaft need replacing? Or do the u joints come off the driveshaft? I've only done the u joints on the front when I did the ball joints

I cant tell you for sure but my friend had a clicking underneath his truck and it ended up being the pinion gear. Hope this helps.

Same procedure, you need to remove the drive shaft in order to get to the u joints, you will need a 12 point 12mm wrench and some elbow grease to get the rear bolts out from the axle to slide out the drive shaft. Also if you have a center support bearing you will have to un bolt that as well. I'd use a ball joint press to get the u joints in and out vs sockets and hammering them in cause its likely to bed the ears.

I had the same deal it clicked really bad when accelerating. Upon inspection the u joints looked fine but when we dropped the driveshaft the back one was so stiff and we replaced it and it solved the problem. Hope this helps!!

Possibly wheel bearings or u-joints in the front TTB?

I just got under the truck and watched the u joints and transfer case as I pushed it forward and back, the u joints don't look like they have any slack in them, most f the slack is coming from the transfer case. I noticed it kinda slams into drive a little worse than is used to. Now on the farm I had to have her in an out of 4x4 more than I usually do, to pull a hay wagon in a little mud, But that was was a week ago! This started sunday on my way back from church!
