60 hp on a NA 6 cylinder?? I am going to call BS on that one. We have tuned litterally hundreds of vehicles older and newer. Everything from F150s to Nobles. Big block monte Carlos to honda Civics. There has NEVER been a 40 hp gain on a vehicle older than 04. I don't mind ppls opinions. I don't like it when a person starts spouting bs to someone that dosen't know any better.

Ok, well, call it BS all you want, maybe he had some mods I wasn't aware of, but why not just respect my opinion and you present yours and the guy can decide for himself. Don't have to be a freakin thought **** about it.

Alright, well i dont mean to be the jack a ss of everyone, but I really just wanted a straight up answer. Not some fighting about who's right or wrong. From what ive heard...out of the old 150s, they havent seen hardly anything thats worth the 250 bucks that hypertech chip costs. But, how about a cold air intake? Would that give me any better gas mileage. Because at the way this is looking with gas prices at about 3.50 a gallon and my parents wont let me get a car, plus im payin for all my gas. The only thing i dont pay for is basically insurance, food, and clothes. Im stuck with this gas guzzling beast of a truck . I wouldnt give her up for my life though.

Ditto on the chip part. And yes, anything that helps your vehicle breath better will improve gas mileage...but don't look for any miracles, 1-2 MPG and 5-9 HP on a cold day maybe.*

*Disclaimer: Said opinions on HP and MPG gains are the sole opinion of myself and may not be substainated by a Dyno test.

Do you think that would be worth the money though? unless i can find a cheap good cold air intake.

Catback exhaust, chip and cold air intake will net you about 15 hp. It will get you 2-3 mpg better, if you stay out of it. The drivability will be better if you get a custom burned chip. All this will cost you approx 1200.00. Thats what about 15 tanks of fuel? Even at the optimistic 3 mpg better it would take 3 years to recoup the cost of the stuff if you are an average driver. Plus you will not really see the fuel mileage gains except on open road.

If an engine is smooth, has good throttle response, with enough power to get the job done, and the correct gas mileage that is all I ask. If I can improve the engines pumping efficiency with low restriction intakes, and exhaust systems that is frosting on the cake. Improvements in the ignition system to get the last little bit of energy out of the fuel that will help all of the stuff above. As for getting 40, 60, 100 more horse power out of an engine what will you have to trade off the get it. It isn't a free lunch. Don't get me wrong I love powerful engines but in order to get that power in something that will not have drivability issues it will cost a great deal of money if you do it yourself.

Now I have not done this on my old Ford but I did on my 04 Dodge Hemi. I installed a throttle body spacer, Airaide cold air breather, Gibson exhaust and Hypertech Max Energy programmer. This was on a modern motor with low miles and I got about 40 hp and about 1.5 mpg increase as long as I stayed out of it which was hard because it sounded so much better after mods. I wasn't hunting power so much as improved fuel mileage and in my opinion I wasted about 1200 dollars. I think the best thing I did was the exhaust. I took the rest of the stuff off and have since sold the truck and now have all but the exhaust for sale. If anyone wants to buy this stuff for an 03-04 Hemi give me a shout. Great advertising huh??? Oh yeah also be ready for check engine lights and trouble codes.

check engine lights and trouble codes? with a tooner, yes, with a Tuner, as in someone experienced in actually writing a file, that is far from true.
