I was replacing my battery cable ends today as the negative one broke on me. When I tightened down the negative terminal again it broke yet again. It is like the terminal will not fit the battery. It is really loose and if I tighten it down it breaks. This is a genuine Motorcraft battery also. Has this happened to anyone else? If so how did you fix it?

don't tighten it to much if you still have the old ones bring them with you or measure the battery terminal (carefully) if you ever brought it to auto zone or someplace the cleans the terminals it takes off some of the post.

They're made out of lead. Stop cranking the **** out of the bolt.

Battery is less then a year old. Terminals still look new. I see what you are saying though. That would make sense if I had done it. Have to tighten it or truck wont start lol.

I am not cranking the **** out of the bolt. I know they are made of lead. I am not stupid but if the terminal is not tight and I can spin it with my hand then something is off.

try heating it up some? there lead and very malleable hell you could probably melt the broken ones back together just don't inhale LOL

Easy tiger. The generic ends don't fit the negative side well because it's smaller than the positive. File off some between the clamp part.
