Default changing my odometer

I'm putting a new instrument cluster in my truck and would like to change the odometer to be accurate. Has anyone done this.

My truck has a ton of miles and is 17 years old so I'm not trying to fool anyone, I just want to look down and see the right miles.

honestly on my 98 i just used a needle and moved them manually.. being careful not to scratch the number etc.
it worked - and it works 100% and is showing my current kms'

worked for me... can't say it will always go that smooth though.
