Default cat questions

i have a 1993 5.0 f150. i was wondering what the stock set up for the cats are? i plan on gettin high flow cats. but i found one with the AIR tube and ones without. which ones do i need to get? my engine is stock, and i need to get it up to emission standards over this next year because im moving from a non emission state to a check state. just want to make sure i pass. thanks guys.

Look at the cat, usually the air pipe is just before the cat or after, cant remember, but not on the cat, and there is no real difference between a stock or hi flow cat. All cats need to be epa certified so regardless of std\hi flow they all have to meet the standards. The only difference might be is the hiflow is a little bigger.

do you have a O2 sensor before and after your cat? I know my 91 and up until 96 are all OBD1 therefore should have one pre cat O2 sensor and not a post cat but maybe I wasnt looking at mine correctly. here in MS I wouldnt hesitate to hack it off if it wont keep the MIL on.

My 92 has 1 o2 sensoer before the cat, I think the obd2 has 2 o2 sensors. One before and one after.

yes thats true on OBD2 the 2 sensors monitor the effiency of the cat. Only downside about cutting it off of the 6cyl is that it will sound like crap easier with a aftermarket muffler. on a 302 thats not an issue it will actually sound meaner.

sorry guys, i should have said that currently my does not have cats on it. i do have a single o2 sensor that, if i had them, would be before the cat. i should have been more specific. i was wondering if my truck would have 2 cats or just the one. i guess i could always get the one with the air pipe, and if i dont need it, i can just cap it off. lol im going to run true dual exhaust as well.
