92 302 performence loss..? Suggestion's.
1992 302 auto. 4x4
I looked through the threads and couldn’t find anything on it. My question is, I replaced my water pump, timing chain, timing cover, oil, oil filter and spark plugs. The spark's are all gapped correctly. I have poor performance, I can't get it to go over 70-75mph with it floored and it used to do 90 + easy. Now besides that the acceleration is horrible and when I mean horrible it's bad, like I can floor it and just watch the gage put up to 70ish before it won't give any more.
Any idea's what it could be?
My school has a Wynn’s tranny flush and im either going to do that or drop the pan replace the filter and fluid with a thing of Lucas Tranny fluid too. What do you think my best bet would be?
Thanks again!

How many miles? I'd be wary of a full trans flush if it has a ton of miles.
Have you done cap and rotor? plug wires? pull the O2 sensor and put a backpressure tester in the port and see if the converter is collapsing. Check fuel pressure, both static and loaded. When you reset the timing, was the spout connector unplugged?

If it ran right before the timing chain replacement, then its possible a mistake was made when installing the chain. We need to make sure as the piston moves up to the top of travel or TDC, the exhaust valve closes and the intake open valve opens as the piston starts down. Send me a private message if you want to learn this procedure. Don't be mislead by thinking its in time using a timing light. Thats ignition timing not valve timing.

It's got a 115,4** something. I know it's not a vacuum line or the one you hook up to a air compressor, it's a Wynn's transmission flush. I don't know if that makes a difference but there is also stuff a bottle of this stuff that you put in after and it reconditions the seals and gaskets and cleans it out. I don't know quote me if im wrong im just learning and hear all this in my High School shop were I do most of the work or get peoples two words on stuff.
