Carb vs. fuel injection
 

I just got 1986 F150 with a carborated 302 and was wondering what some of you guys thought was better carb or Fuel Injection.

Theres no doubt in my mind-Fuel Injection is the way to go

+1 for EFI - better mileage, no issues with being at a steep grade (off roading), more consistent, easier winter starts, blah blah blah...

Add another vote for fuel injection. Better air/fuel mixture control than a carb can ever do.

The best description I have seen for a carb is "a barely controlled fuel leak" and that sums up carburetors.

carb, fuel injection is great but depends on sensors, if something goes wrong then your screw=d. at least the average person can rebuild a carb, or at least see if the carb is working. i have had three vech. all with different types of fuel injection. two porsches, one with mfi and one with csi, then my f150 with elect. fuel injection. the csi was the easy one to figure out and check. if some one sold a kit to change the fi on my f150 i would get it. with a carb fuel problem i can figure it out in a couple of minutes, not going to do that with fuel injection.

If you're good you can figure out a fuel injection problem pretty quick. The average person can't rebuild a carb, they are technical and have many tiny parts. I can take apart and put together every part of a fuel injected vehicles fuel system without a manual but without a manual for a carb not anyone can do it. There are no floats to set, no needles or jets to change. A fuel injected vehicle will run almost perfectly until the engine blows up or a sensor goes bad, but a carb does not offer that kind of control. A carb will keep near perfect air/fuel ratio only within a narrow RPM band but fuel injection will keep it throughout the RPMs.

Fuel injection! A carb is just a glorified toilet flush.
