I took Squirrely to my trusted Ford dealer far away he told me today that the pittman are nut was finger tight without a cotterpin, also the same with the tierod nut and no cotterpin. How do 2 shops miss this? This reminds me why I liked [love-hate] to do my own work.

I got my camber/caster bushings from NAPA because they had more adjustment, I want to say 4 degrees but I am not sure. The guy had to dig a little to find the part, but they are pretty good peices. I had a 2" lift in it and it needed more than the standard bushings offered.

I got the ball joints at AutoZone. They "rent" a tool to press the ball joints in. Its basically a really big C-Clamp, all you need is a stout impact. Basically you pay for the tool, then get a refund for it when you bring it back. It took me the better part of a Saturday afternoon on my 92 4x4.

Cool!
Thanks Guys for the input so far!
I agree with doing my own work too! I have the ability, most of the tools, i was just wondering if it was worth my time for the ball joint. Thanks for the advice on the ball joint press too!

I agree it is a Love-Hate kinda thing! but so many shops miss things and besides... "they cant see it from theyre house"

Anyone know if the Lightning bushings are different from the stand f-150's? Want to change mine to get the camber in check before taking it to alignment shop. Labor to install those, plus alignment will be crazy. I cant see spending $200+ for $69 alignment...

Default plz help

Plz someone help if u can i went to townfair tire to get my frontend Alignment done my driverside front tire is riding on the inside and im blowing tires like they are going out of style. they told me i needed to go buy a caster/camber kit so i went to napa and picked one up for 20 bucks. when i went back to have them install it and finish the alignment they told me they wont install it and that they wouldnt refund my money so i got screwed. I called all the shops i can find and they all tell me its goin to be around 200 to install it and 79 for the alignment i dont wanna pay all that. so i was wondering if anyone knows how to install it if they could kinda give me a little walkthrough. the kit i got is just two thick washers with offset holes that go where the bolts are for the upper arm i have torsion bars on my lower arm and im worry that if i take the bolts out of the upper that somehow the torsion bar will come out or something so any help would be nice ty i have a 97 F150 4x4 4.6w. any info would be a big help ty again. p.s. the caster/camber kit i got from napa part number is 264-2980 if that will help.
