Default Cam stock heads but upgrades advice PLEASE

I have a 1989 f150 with k&N cold air intake, long headers, 3 inch pipes with H Pipe, Electric fan, smog delete, cat delete. My father had the the engine replaced and I was told he put a 94 5.0 ho in out of a mustang. Now the top of the motor looks to be f150 rather then mustang? So I think only lower block was replaced.

Anyhow water pump went out and timing cover broke, So I was thinking of putting a mid size cam in it while down there. Is there one you recomend with my set up? Looking for a little more power out of it as I run 33s and she is a bit poochie. Or will it only hurt without heads? I cant swing heads right now.

Thank you for any advice guys

I'm running a Ford Racing B303 cam with stock heads, no problems. More power, more torque and better gas mileage. nice idle too.

Anyone els have any ideas or is the B303 the best option?

Ray48, How much more power did you get? How much better is the gas? Is the B303 a much bigger cam then what comes in the H.O.?

Thanks again for the insight

Don't have dyno numbers but it pulls a lot better when I'm towing and mileage is up about 50%, about12 rather than 7or8 when towing and the bed loaded.

You should look into swapping gears also if you want a little more power since your running bigger tires
