Default CAI for 96 f150 5.0

I'm lookin to put a CAI on my truck, mainly for mpg, but I can't find anything but the k&n for the 96 5.0 v8. I was wondering if I could mod one ( s&b) for a different year or 4.6/5.4. Suggestion's?

If you have the stock plastic tubing that runs from the grill to the airbox then you have a cold air intake.

Yes, but the stock is very restrictive.

After market doesn't always help mpg. Think about it, more / colder air= computer adding more fuel. No need for these trucks, factory set up with a good filter works fine. I had a nice aftermarket setup on my old car and while it did improve throttle response, my gas mileage dropped.

If you do a search a few members have purchased the round k&n filter only. So basically making your own intake. They list the number they use.

I added the k & n intake and got back the 1 1/2 mpg that was lost with bigger tires. It gives me a working point to drive better....if I can keep it quiet the mpg stays good.

What I want to know is if the volant PowerCore 1996-2003 4.6/5.4 will fit my 5.0?

I'm actually planning on returning to my stock set up as my cone filter needs oiling often to repel water when it rains hard and water gets in from the hood and fender opening. I'm probably getting the MAF pretty dirty too doing so.
