C6 to ZF5 Trans Swap
What's up guys. Been looking recently on a plan to get rid of the C6 slaughtermatic that's behind my 300 I6. I've considered an AOD swap, but I'd want a rebuild/beef up on it and I'd be in it just as much as a ZF5 swap.
Anyways, my junkyard that I got all my 4wd swap parts from let me know that he's got a 1997 Ford F-250 4x4, ZF5, 351 in stock with everything I need to do the swap in my truck. Only bad part is, the truck has 292k on the odometer. He said he's gonna hook me up with everything I need for $400 (If I pull it) or $600 if he pulls it. That's trans/xfer case, crossmember, driveshafts, pedal assembly, slave assembly, trans tunnel plate, (maybe flywheel, clutch, pressure plate), I'll probably buy all that new for the 300I6.
Anybody think that's too many miles? I really don't want to buy $400 in parts if I'll have to rebuild it for $1500. But what I know I'll need to do is change the driveshaft lengths, and swap the transfer case out to retain my mechanical speedo. Should my C6 BW1356 fit on the back of that ZF? I'll possibly have to swap the starter as well? Just trying to gather some input/opinions from yall. Thanks. Joe.

Man that's a lot of miles it's one thing if u could have driven it and went threw the gears a few times. U always take a risk buying used parts as I'm sure u no. I'd go with a rebuild if it was me then u will atleast no u got new part and a solid tranny that will last more then a year
