Buying a used 95 F150 today - checklist?
Hello! I've been following this forum for awhile now and it has proved invaluable for my research. I can't wait to be part of the community.
Today I'm finally going to check out (and possibly get!) a 1995 F150 ext. cab that I've been following on craigslist for awhile. It has 121K miles and looks well maintained, but you never know until you see it in person of course.
As for doing the walk around/test drive on the truck, I was wondering if there is anything specific to this generation (aside from the obvious things) that I should look for? Such as signs of issues that plagued this model or something similar. It's a 5.8L.
I contacted the seller, and he said the solenoid for the 4x4 low is out but 4H works.
Thanks for your help, and my apologies if this is in the wrong forum.

Trucks looks nice.
Check for rust on the spring shackles, spring towers, and the radiator support panel.
Find out if the transmission has been rebuilt. Some of the oil pans tended to rust and leak. Pull the codes, especially if the CEL is on. Bring a vacuum gauge.
The price does seem high but could be OK if the truck is mint and the transmission has been rebuilt with the updated parts.

Thanks for the info guys. It didn't work out for today but I suppose I'll keep looking around.
Rikard, how would I pull codes? Is it OBDI for pre-96?
Also, what does everybody think would be a good price range for a truck like this? I'm looking for 92-96 ext. cab 5.0/5.8L 4x4 with less than 140/150K. I know it varies by location, but any estimate would be helpful. Thanks.

Hey Evan, vehicles are more expensive in our area. I dunno why. That seems like a good deal to me.
Listen for any clunks in the front end. If it has 2 gas tanks, make sure both work.
