Buffing

Buffing
I want to buff my truck, it has a lot of surface marks from bushes and branches while in the woods and off-roading. I can rub most off with just my finger, so I don't think it will need much; however, I would still like to get it as good as possible. I plan to just get a random orbital buffer and whatever compound they have. Any recommendations and/or advice?

Stud Muffin
3M makes a good rubbing compound. There are a couple different types of pads as well. The cloth ones which will probably be what the orbital has will cut good. I prefer the foam pads though. For deeper scratches you might want to water sand lightly with 1500 or 2000 depending on scratches. Don't go thru the clear coat. If you're not sure on this just keep with the compound. If after that you have swirls 3M also makes a good swirl mark remover/ polish. Be sure to either use a different pad or clean the one you have thoroughly.

Meguiars ultimate compound. Great stuff. I used it on my truck by hand (whew) and the results were night and day. It was so good I didn't even need s polish, I went straight to my carnauba.
