Default Brake light and ABS light on - thoughts ?

- 17 here today, not that it should matter. Pulled out of the driveway and noticed the brake light and the ABS light were both on. Brakes still worked fine.
Drove a few miles, parked it for 1/2 hr, started it, still on. On the way home, tried hitting the brakes hard. Brake light went off. ABS still on. Got home, checked the fuse (good), turned it off, started it, ABS light came on and then went off, stayed off.
Fuse is good, fluid is good, brakes work. Any thoughts on what that was all about ?

Abs valve (or whatever it's called) is probably bad.

Yeah, could be. I'm just a little stumped trying to figure what would light both lights and then have them go off separately. There's probably some very good reason but I've never seen it happen before and whatever it was seems to have corrected itself, at least for now. Just seemed very weird.
And the brakes worked fine.
Maybe it's just an electrical glitch ?

I would vote for electrical glitch, probably caused by road slush crossing the signal at the connectors.

I've had my light come on in cold weather as well then go off on its own, nothing seemed to be bad. I think it's either the low fluid sensor in the master cylinder or the RABS valve.

ABS light automatically comes on when the brake light comes on. So, has more to do with the braking system than the ABS system.

That makes more sense than the coincidence of having both light up at the same time. I better crawl around and make sure there's nothing wrong under there. Thanks

When my RABS Valve went bad, both lights came on. Replaced it with a JY unit and it went off. It popped on out of the blue.

I had the same thing. Brake fluid was low, added some, problem solved.
