Default Transmission when you get into that type of horsepower range you need to run non foam

when you get into that type of force Power you need to run non-foaming Jackal in your transmission instead of Mercon V a transmission will shift harder last longer and that was fluid will protect your transmission a lot better I've seen people use it and $10,000 transmission that's what everybody uses in their street strip cars it's just a secret that people don't tell you

Default I put a 302 from a 96 f150 and it surges and in the cold it dies

The truck sounds like its crammed but I don't think so. Could it be that the engine was maf and mine is speed density

Hey there reviewing this thread due to the fact that I have pulled the 302 from my 92 F-150 and is getting a number of things done.
Basicly, the block has visited the machine shop and has been decked, bored to 4.030", new freeze plugs, cam bearings and painted classic blue.
It is getting a DSS 331 Stroker kit with forged SX series pistons.
I will have to start a dedicated build thread.
This brief video is after only heads and a cam on the original 302 bottom end.

You can build a really nice 331 truck engine. Nice low end torque with afr 165 renegade heads. Check out this you tube vid.

Default 1994 351w into 302 1992 F150

So what I'm gathering is, I pulled a complete 351W with e4od trans out of a 94 f150. It is MAF. And I'm building it to drop into a 1992 302 F150 with well over 300,000. And from what I understand it should be a simple swap and I can run GT40 heads and one of the comp cams you mentioned at the beginning at the same firing order 1-5-4 with no problems on speed density?

Not 100% sure on your post. The 5.8 did not come from the factory with Maf in 1994. There are supposed to be some oddball
1995 Cali 5.8 trucks that have mass air but I have never seen one. So you are saying the 302 truck is mass air but you are going to run the Windsor speed density? You could run mass air if you want on your Windsor, but if you want to use speed density because of your trans needing a pcm for control, I can see that. You could use an aftermarket trans controller and then use the 302 pcm to run mass air.
thats not what you asked though, yes it will be a simple swap, just need to decide to run mass air or speed density.
I have also looked at running the 460 pcm and the ability to run 24lb injectors. Surprisingly the factory 460 timing curve works pretty good on a Windsor and the engine will run decent , biggest drawback is the factory speed and rev limiter is set at 4900 rpm. You could always search online for a factory 1995 5.8 Cali mass air truck for sale. If you find one that is suitable you will need the vin and then order a rebuilt factory pcm using the supplied vin. I have done this with eec5 odb2 mass air 460 f250 engines and using the proper Maf sensor you can run 24 lbs on a 96 5.8 eec5 obd2 engines, works great except for the rev limiter. So if you do find a 95 5.8 California mass air truck, order the pcm for that but you need a vin. Then you have eec4 mass air 5.8, just letting you know there are some low buck options.

I'm sorry I did not clarify the 1992 truck is a speed density 302 with the E4OD. And I thought the 351W was a 1994. But possibly 1995. Either way it was mass air with the E4OD. And I will be running the 351W as speed density in the 1992. I understand the computer will handle everything and the swap should be pretty straight forward.

That would be a decent cam. I know from experience you need aftermarket stout springs for that much lift. Might also pay to mock up and verify there is no piston to valve interference being over 500 on lift. With a lsa of 114 it's designed to idle and have good street manners.
