My '96 model came with a really nice billet grill. It has not got enough room to get your fingers back to the release either so I cut the bristles off of a toothbrush and use the handle to trip the release. The previous owner used a screw driver but I find the plastic handle to be safer on the billet finish. When not in use I store it in the dash.

ok, that makes sense, and good idea also, protecting the nice finish

all you do is get a long wire, tie it to the emergency release at the bottom of the hook, tie a loop on the other end and run it along the top between the grille and the radiatior support so that when you pop the hood, you can reach in and grab it and pull it out to release the latch, vooallla, problem solved.

do you drill the hold through the release lever handle? I got one from LMC trucks and the directions that came with it make it look like you drill where the lever attaches to the latch mechanism it self and then somehow comes out the top of the shroud that is behind the grill. do you happen to have any pictures?
