What's most relevant is they noticeably increase combustion chamber temperatures. W/ bumped base timing this is especially critical. Even w/ stock base time, a little abnormally high operating temperature & you will exceed Ping temp. threshold. When this occurs, the knee jerk reaction is to increase octane used. This cures the symptom temporarily, but only masks to actual problem.

Single plats as opposed to double plats is like poking yourself in one eye as opposed to two. Yes, it's a little better, but.........

This was the short course, in a nutshell.
Nic plated Copper Cores are your best friends for plug choice overall.

If you feel you have to use double plats, AC/Delco rapid fire Finewires or Mororcraft D/P Finewires are great, w/ only minimal C/C temp increases. These are non-negotable gap plugs however.

E3 makes a performance plug that's copper core & comes in various pre-gaps. Haven't used them personally as they aren't cheap. I'm waiting for other's with more curiosity & deeper pockets to report on them.
