best repair manual?
As per my other thread, my 93 4.9 has what is suspected to be a blown head gasket (oil in coolant, and coolant in oil), praying not a cracked head/block haha! I want to try to attempt to do this myself, it cant be to difficult, plus I am being quoted $400 labor and $100+ in parts, so I figure I can get some nice tools for $500. I was skilled in working on VW 1600 haha! So this cant be much different, right?
What is the best repair manual money can buy, I doubt I can buy a FSM though so Haynes or Chilton or maybe there is something else available?

I dont know.... im usually a chiltons guy but im not too impressed with it on these trucks. The exploded views dont seem that great but I haven't seen haynes version. Other than torque specs (which can be easily found online or asking someone in here), I dont really see a need for it on a head gasket. Its been a long time since I've had a head done but I would recommend a valve job while its apart. You could take it to a local career center (jvs for you old guys) and probably get it done for less than$ 100.
