Default Battery light??

Got 94 f150 4x4 5.0. I left my headlights on for like 20 min by mistake then cranked the truck and my battery light stays on now. It cranks up fine and is charging just the light stays on. Havent hooked voltmeter to it yet. Is there a way to reset the light? It seems the battery is fine just the light stays on.

No way to reset the light. If the light is on, something somewhere is wrong...Alternator and battery probably need tested, take it to advance auto parts or autozone and they usually do it for free.

Sure there is. Have a functioning alternator! Check wiring & output.

Leaving your lights on for only 20 mins shouldn't be enough to hurt anything. disconnecting your battery briefly will reset your computer and should turn the batt light off. If the problem is still there the light will come back on after running the engine for a few minutes.

I will check voltage at batt tomorrow. The battery is only 6 months old so wouldnt think it would b that. I figured 20 min wouldnt drain it either. Just has me puzzled since it fires right up and shows prob 16 volts on gauge while running.

16 volts? That sounds like overcharging to me. You might even have a melted wire, just melted one on mine and mine's been undercharging.

The battery light will turn on if your alternator is not working of if it overcharges. There is a wire on the back that goes to the light, if it has to much or to little power the light will come on. I am not sure exactly how the circuit works.
