Default Bad EGR Valve

Does anybody know if the EGR valve is not working correctly could it cause the engine to run like it is being starved of fuel after 15 minutes of running. The truck is an 87 with an inline 6.
Thanks

I have an inline 6 too and When my truck threw an EGR code I still drove it for about 4 months before i replaced it because our trucks don't need emissions to pass or inspection, I felt no difference or heard no difference in performance at all.

check the input voltage for the EVP (egr valve position sensor) should be 4-6 volts.. if that checks out unplug the sensor and check for resistance it should be 5500 ohms when their is no vacuum and should transition smoothly down to 100 ohms at 10 HG of vacuum.

Disconnect the vacuum line to the EGR valve and plug the vacuum line with a golf tee or something. Drive the truck and see if you still have a problem. Chances are the engine will love not getting exhaust gas recirculating into the intake manifold. I know mine did!

The thing is that the EGR gasses are being used to help bring combustion temperatures down.

The higher temps could be causing engine damage.

No, starving might be the pump or filter, check the vacuum hose to the regulator, the egr is to recirculate unburnt fuel and cool the the exhaust, it should not affect performance pertaining to a starving symptom.
