Axle swap help/advice
So I'm planning on swapping my axle pretty soon and I decided on the 10.25 3.73s. But that's just about all I know. Will any 10.25 3.73 from the jy do? Or do I need to get one specifically from 92-96 f series. Also any advice or tips or pointers from anyone who has done this before would be a huge help, this will be a first for me.

It's best to take measurements because there are different width axles but they can look exactly the same when not right next to each other. Measure the width from flange to flange, then get measurements for how far in from each flange the spring mounting points are. As longs as the replacement axle has the same measurements it should bolt right in. Also, make sure that it has the proper VSS mounting with the toothed ring mounted under the ring gear.

10.25 - you're talking 3/4 ton right ? That's what I got from it, if that's right what little I know is that there's the Sterling and the Van Dyke (also made in Sterling). Main thing is the semi float or full float versions. Full float is a heavier version the visible difference being that big hub that sticks out in the center on the full float. Semi float is easier to do the brakes on,if you ever have to do them, but full float is a much stronger version. It's the right one to have appearance wise (although you'd be hard pressed to break a semi float)
I think that on some of the later versions they changed the pinion length because of problems with the earlier pinions. Worth doing some research on.
As for width, It's my understanding that the frame didn't get changed much between 80 and 96.
Also you will need one with a speed sensor.
And that's about the extent of what I know about those.

But basically you're saying just measure? Haha I guess that makes sense. Do you know what the axle code for the 10.25 4.10 is?
