Default Axle Shaft C-Clip?

Driving my 96 f150 4x4 last night and as i turned onto my road my passenger side tire and shaft flew off, sad part is these trucks are such monsters it took me a minute to figure out i was actually missing a tire completely(the tire passed me and i thought it was just an animal running away). ? is does anyone know where i can get a new c-clip? i don't really want to get a used one, afraid the same thing will happen, and none of the auto stores carry them. thank guys

Unless the c clip broke into pieces, theres more wrong than the c clip.
Bronco graveyard has clips.

Ya you may have more problems... Only way those C clips come out is if the spider gear locking shaft is out, or broken. Take off the diff cover and see whats going on, the old c clip should still be there.

I took apart the diff a few mins ago, i found the clip it's not even remotely tight on the shaft, and the end of the splines are smashed(1/8") but the rest of the diff. seems fine. I think I'm going to try to get a new shaft and hope it comes with a new clip, or clean up the splines and put the clip in the vise, any advice or tricks i should know about? oh and it happened but i cant get the damn pic to load. Keeps saying fail or if i paste it comes up with a bunch of letters and says it to long, i'll try making it my main pic

Oh and i did redo the bearing a couple years ago so i think maybe it wasn't tight enough when i put it back in.(and i don't baby this truck, that's why i love it, first time it's ever left me stranded anywheres)

Check the thickness of the button end of the axle that fell out against the other axle, if it wears down, or the side gear wears into the case it can get enough play to let the clip fall out.

Think if it was me I'd just replace the shaft, clip and all 4 spiders. If the splines got smashed def don't try to file them out. Those shafts arnt that expensive. I got mine at napa. But the c clip I think you'll have to go to ford.
