i just traded a s10 blazer to my cousin for his 88 f150 4x4 w/I6. I dont know much about these motors to be honest and i was wondering what would cause it NOT to have pressure on the fuel rails.
It has new pumps and filters. My first guess is the fuel pressure regulator.?? but could it be bad injectors? Or a blockage somewhere in the line?
Gas can be poured in the air box and it will fire right up, but when the gas runs out it just dies. So any advice would be great cuz i want to get this thing running

Recheck that the fuel pump(s) are good. I remember seeing a mechanic use starting fluid to keep a dodge caravan running years back (that needed a new fuel pump). Once he stopped spraying, the engine cut off.
The chances that all 6 fuel injectors are totally clogged would be pretty slim, and if the fuel filter is new, there shouldn't be any resistance.
Can you tell us how the truck was running prior to it not running? Or was the new fuel pumps and fuel filter a fix for something that was going on before??

ok, it was running fine then all of the sudden it just cut off, it sat for about a year till my cousin put new fuel pumps and a new fuel filter on it because he found that there was no pressure to the rails.

Check to see if you have power to the fuel pump relay, if you do check for power at the pumps. With it suddenly dying also check to see if the inertia switch has been tripped, Mine is behind the passenger kick panel others will get on to let you know were the inertia switch is at on your year.

yeah, what about that switch that turns the fuel pumps off if you get into a wreck or something. That might be a problem too. Forget where it is or what its called. i would also check for leaks in the tubing, and make sure everything is hooked up properly, not saying your cousin isnt competent but we gotta keep it simple here!

Nice comparison, where is the 78 and then the 08? Back to business, if inertia switch has power in and out then see if power is back at one of the pumps, if the inertia switch has no power, jumper it with power from someplace else, does pump run. If there is no power to the inertia switch, it does sound like the the ECU is at fault. Still having difficulty as to why both circuits would go out, believe they have different fuses. Get back to us.
