Default 95 f-150 dual fuel tank issue

95 f-150 4.9l dual fuel tanks worked fine until recently...i was driving along on the rear tank , when i switched to the front the truck died and would not start again until i switched back to the rear tank..i have 1/2 tank in front tank that i cant use until i fix this problem...my question is where do i start troubleshooting this problem? what is the most likely problem?? this truck is fuel injected so i am guessing it uses 2 in tank pumps ...just from looking around underneath i have only found 1 fuel filter and no other components ..any ideas??

Yes it has one high pressure pump in each tank and one filter on the frame.
With the switch on the front tank can you hear the pump come on when you frist turn the key on?
If you do then you need to run a pressure check on the front pump.

If you don't you need to do a voltage check at the pump to make sure you are getting 12 vdc there. You gan get someone to turn on the key while you check at the pump plug or jump out the data plug under the hood to ground to send voltage to the pump to run test.

If no voltage at the pump go the selector switch next and check there for voltage.

If you have voltage at the pump and pump is not running then check the plug on the pump side replace plug if bad or pump if it's not. More than likely it's going to be a bad pump.
